Ojai, California, USA
9:55am. I'm back at the farm in Ojai on Lynne's computer, it's a sunny day and I need a shower. So much has happened in the past week I dread sitting here putting it all together when I have other things to do.
Book to read: Four Arguments for Elimination of TV, by Jerry Mander.
1:53pm. I just had pleasant visit with the principal of a private school that works with "at risk" middle and high school age boys. Wednesday I'm booked for a slide show, and then a dragonfly workshop. Now I'm headed down to Oak Grove School and the public high school to see what I can do for them. I'll also be sending $75 in the mail to Sparks justice system for a speed trap on the way to Burning Man.
4pm. Standing in the post office with a money order for high robbery, writing a note to go with it:
Judge Higgins... I can't respect a "justice system" that does not respect me. This case is not a matter of public safety; it is just a way for the court to make cash. $75 is a lot for those who make little. That's a lot of hours for nothing. It was a speed trap, a step up on a lonely country road past midnight. The cop acted like a freak-totally unprofessional. My car speedometer is in Kilometers not miles and I had just passed the sign, still slowing. Please understand this is not justice... just a tax! Send my refund check to:

M... are you still in school? If so... get involved with the
yearbook/newspaper to get free film and experience. If you are done school,
and have time to work at a photo lab... do that. write down what you want
and the steps to get there. Talk to those doing what you want to do. And
just start to shoot... most of all.
Have fun.
i dont know how to get started how do i go about it , where is there a photo
lab i can go to and get involved with , no i am not in school anymore , i
spend my time at home with my daughter . and i just cant find the motavation
to do this and i am truely interested in this and only scence i ment you and
you were taking pictures of everything you seen.
Melli.... I am guessing you have a computer... so maybe a digital camera would work for you? Film costs and takes time, but it depends what you want the product to be. If you just want to shoot lots to get good... digital is perfect. Get a rechargable battery. Search the net.... like ebay and ask at Applby's uptown.
Do it!!!! Finding a passion and focusing your energy in creative ways is what life is all about. You are a mom, and that is huge.... truly what life is all about.... being a teacher and lover, provider, but if you have time to watch TV(not that I know you do), you have time to go for a walk and put yourself in beautiful scenes... which is really the most important thing. I am not taking as many photos now cuz I am so rapped in the activity in the scene of whatever I am doing... be it dancing, climbing, etc. which is great... living... a part of the action... not just watching. You are your child's action hero whether you know it or not.
You are coming into greater awareness and will see opportunities all around.
Keep your chin up.
I'm glad to share this time with you.
