Sharky sent a couple emails:

Its sharky, I have a few quick questions for ya. I want to know how to find your true self ?how did you do it? I always wanted to be a beach bum in Kawii, my friends think Im crazy but Im not into the trends or the big fancy houses and cars, I mean now I have to pay off my car before I do anyting, maybe thats why I was drawn to you, your so diffrent you do your own thing kinda like me,.before , I met you I saw a life kinda like yours but never came clear it was there but didnt know why I was thinking that. and I always wanted to travel and camp and meet people but I always made a excuse It feels like people want to change me into something Im not and when I email you it kinda helps to know your out there, helping people, touching diffrent lives. I hope all your dream come true. good luck on your school. TAKE CARE TOO DA LOO _SHARKY

You are on the path, Sharky. It's just a matter of being creative... and finding open people to hang with who will encourage you to blossom freely. I met tons of great people in a very smort time in St. George. I just acted like the peaceful freak that i am... so good folks would find me and I said hello to those I thought were intresting. It's easy. Sometimes it's not... but the more fearless you get and just do it... no thinkin' too much... the more you see you were afraid of nothing at all. Start making lists of things you like to do and clearing the path for them to come into your life. Shine on! -C

hey, have you ever bin in the army? because I had a crazy ideai, Im thinking of joining it . I started that list and its a whole page and some..so do you get jobs when you travel? where do you stay? do you camp out? I want to learn more about places, and how to survive without anything, and if i join the army I can do alot of those things because Im earning money, and Im geting trained for something but maybe its differnt the way I see it. take care .thanxs for your advice. luve tonz sharky-

...I was in the Army cadets from age 12 to 16, and was palnning to go into the army after high school, but then realized I would be giving up my freedom, and freedom is what I value most. Traveling with the army is not so romantic. You do as they say. Screw that. I liked you plan of being a beach bum on Kawii better. Focus on that. Start saving money and learning as much as you can about the place. I've heard of lots of people camping out in the forest on the Hawian Islands... and seen pics, which look heavenly. You get on that path, it will lead you crazy places you can't dream of where you are. Just go and follow you heart. You can always change you mind at anytime. The Army is not so easy or fun.

..so do you get jobs when you travel?

I do whatever I can, but mostly make money doing my slide shows, teaching workshops and selling dragonflys. I can also sew really well. This weekend I made two pairs of pants--the first for my girl Moriah, who I'm staying with here in Pasadena, and the second for myself that I just finished a minute ago and am happily wearing at the moment. I'll make some more and sell them. When I stay with people I often help out by cleaning the house or just anything I can so they like having me around.

>>>where do you stay? do you camp out?

I stay with friends mostly, but I camp between and with friends. I have 3 hammocks and can sleep in the back of my car. I have no worries about having a place to lay my head. When you are in a place with a warm climate, sleeping outside is nice. You'll love it on the beach. You gotta be crafty, but you'll learn. Do some spear fishing, make jewelery, and don't eat out, just be simple.

Write a story about how you are going to do it. Don't think about limitations, just write out the ideal scene, then use that as a map for you life. Search the web and find friends and info about where you want to go. And just keep staying in touch. I'll do what I can to help.

Source:
Forests filter rainwater.
Protect standing forests.
Restore cut forests.
Grow forests outward using local native seed.
Prevent toxification of Earth. Arrest Bush regime.

Access:
Water is a human right, not a corporate commodity.
Bad corporations ( Nestle = Arrowhead ) seek to privatize water.
Nestle wants to buy up rivers for exclusive rights.
Arrowhead even lobbies EPA not to certify water co's not selling to them!

Storage:
Glass is best. Plastic leaches pthalates, causing cancer.
Plastics release more toxins when in sunlight or heat.
Softer plastics (1 gallon, 2.5 gallon ) are worst.
pthalate = plastic softener. Mimics estrogen, causes tumors.
Harder plastics are better. ie: Nalgene and Cyclone.
Boycott Nalgene: makers of plastic animal restraints for vivisection.

Tap water is bad: Chlorine is poison. Kills llife. Also increases leaching effect.
Chlorine will evaporate if left overnight in glass. Pitcher/days.
Chlorine, when heated creates TriHalo-methanes = poison brain.
Turn water heater only as hot as necessary to have comfy shower.
Charcoal water filters for tap / shower will remove chlorine. Britta.

Sadly, SF Water Dept, EB Mud, etc. have replaced Chlorine with Chloramine.
Chloramine is Chlorine and Amonia. Very little info. No right to know? Bad.
They're keeping the public in the dark about this: chemistry / biological info.
Chloramine kills fish and other living things. Drink spring/ mountain water.

Fluoride is poison. Filters do not remove. Distillation or reverse osmosis will.
Majority of tranquilizers are Fluoride based. Fluoride is toxic waste of Aluminum Industry.

Older cities and buildings have Lead in pipes. Fluoride increases human absorption of Lead.

Dear Fellow Water Enthusiasts,

Though many of you are deeply interested and involved in the fight to protect water from privatization, the majority of the population remains unaware of this ongoing struggle and its consequences worldwide. The release of a new one-hour documentary called "Thirst" provides an exciting new outreach forum and awareness-building tool.

This excellent new film elucidates the inherent drama of communities fighting for control of their water and against corporate-driven globalization. Thirst examines communities in Bolivia, India and Stockton, California, facing contentious issues surrounding the privatization of water, and skillfully places the debate in the context of the 2003 World Water Forum in Kyoto, Japan. This film is a piercing look at the conflict between public stewardship and private profit, where activists claim that water is a human right and corporations declare it a commodity.

"THIRST" will have its national broadcast premiere on Tuesday, July 13 on PBS's acclaimed "P.O.V." documentary series. (Check local listings.)

Please let us know if you'd like to bring Thirst to your community. Upcoming screenings in California include:

...the next saga of William's adventures:

OK, as most of you know, I was in the process of taking my horse on an estimated two day journey, walking from Sabilito/San Vito, Costa Rica to Golfito, Costa Rica. I started out yesterday and we began our ride. The rain let up after a morning shower and the day started out to be glorious. I was taking some back roads (dirt of course) to avoid downtown San Vito traffic. I love not knowing where I am going.... lol I came out exactly where I thought I would on the paved road headed down towards Golfito. My goal for the first day of riding was to make it to Ciuad Neily. I had been riding for three or four hours and was about halfway to our goal when all of a sudden White Lunar Wizard (The horse in my care) totaly wipes out. I mean, all four of his legs went out from under us like Bambi on ice and we were only doing a very slow trot, almost walking. The road had a very slight incline but not much. Anyway, I go right over the top of Wizards head and roll to a stop. I get to my feet and Wizard is just laying on the ground. Iīm thinking ... I hope he is alright. I go to his head and slowly lift his head and he begins to stand up. Aside from a few nicks and cuts on his legs, he is A-OK. I quickly asses that we must travel no further on foot via this slippery and dangerous road. I look up and where, by chance (yeah right) do I happen to be? Dead smack in front of a place called Dos Loco Canadienses. this is the place I was headed to check out as per a previous recommendation from some good friends that had stayed at our house for a while, David, Yon and Henry. I never made it because thatīs the day I was headed to Quepos and met Sergio winding up at his farm instead of heading out. So, here I am, I tie up Wizard and head in to see what is in store. I go in and there are two gents behind the bar, I explain that my friends hads highly recommended their fine establishment and they respond to me by saying we are not the Two Crazy Canadians but they will be back soon. I order a cold one and was quickly introduced to several Doctors finishing up their residencies here in Costa Rica as part of an international program from the states. Iīll tell you it was sooooooo nice to speak english and be understood. Not having to think so much, with my severly limited espaņol, how I am going to accurately convey a thought or feeling. We began to play darts, another aimiable pastime of which I have not partaken in recent past. I was speaking with David and David, the two gents behind the bar upon my arrival, and they shared with me their endeavor of a farm they have and how they are wanting to grow medicinal plants. After a short period of time, Al and Piroette, the Two Crazy Canadians, return and introduced themselves to me. ............

I have to go now, intenet cafe time is up however they wound up taking me to a birthday party at the home of a really cool doctor who hosts the residents from this program. What an incredible time and I have met yet more wonderful people. The Doctor, whoīs name is Pablo, is very down to earth. He actually will refer patients to a Shamn he knows if any of his patients are not responding well, or at all, to conventional medicine. I shared with him my meeting with the Shaman and some of the incredible healing miracles Dr Bajuka (The Shaman) had shared with me. Dr Pablo was very interested to hear this and we will be speaking more in the future. I found it very encouraging that a doctor of conventional western medicine would be and is open to natural healing practices implimented by the Shamans. What a beautiful house he had in the jungle too. No walls and it was explained to me that there are no walls because he wanted the house to be one with nature and because I am always welcome. I am looking forward to sitting in the hottub in the middle of the jungle. :-)

After we left, I spent the next couple of hours having an incredible conversation with Al and Piroette back at their bar. Before we went to sleep, they said here are the keys to the bar. If you leave before we return tomorrow, please, eat whatever you like and come back soon. The following morning, David, a close friend of Al and Piroette, found a ride in a truck for Wizard and I all the way to Golfito and here I am or should I say... Here we are. Hope all is well and Lotīs of LOVE for you.

In Peace Love and Light

William

Hello Max. Hope this email finds you well. I have been travelling for awhile now away from computers and internet and thought I would drop you a line and see how everything is. Are you still planning on opening your school in Mexico and if so how is it going. I have come thru from egypt to jordan into syria then lebanon back into syria and now have spent about a month in turkey. Very tiring, going going going everyday. The people here are amazing as long as you don't talk politics, but that is to be expected. I plan to cut my trip short and return to Berkeley in June because I couldn't get a visa into Iran, oh well. I will be in the bay area till December working and saving money then heading to Thailand to work in a dive shop for about six months. I have meet some great people on this trip and we have made a pretty serious plan to all buy a sailboat in two years time and sail around the world. Everyone seems really committed to it which is great, it looks like it will actually happen. Well that is what is going on with me, let me know about your self max. Hope to see you again some day.

cheers
jason

Hey Cory,

Life couldn't be better.... it's just sooo exciting what's happening.... mostly inside of me. Doors that open, one after another. It amazes me again and again, how powerful our soul is..... or can be, if we decide to listen to it.

What a rollercoaster life is! Up, down, left, right, slow, fast... just hold on and enjoy.

Once in a while I'm checking your website. I'm glad to hear that you are happy.... content.

Two days ago I was helping out at the yard sale of the Children's Center here on Quadra. I was just sorting stuff, not even looking for anything, suddenly I held an old "weathered" copy of this book in my hand, Demian by Hermann Hesse.... do you remember Siddharta?

I've read that book almost 20 years ago and it had a big impact on me. When I read it again now, it seems to "confirm" many of my experiences. It was written in 1925.... pretty amazing.

Here are two excerpts:

"At this point a sharp realization burned within me: each man has his "function" but none which he can choose himself, define, or perform as he pleases. It was wrong to desire new gods, completely wrong to want to provide the world with something. An enlightened man had but one duty - to seek the way to himself, to reach inner certainty, to grope his way forward, no matter where it led. The realization shook me profoundly, it was the fruit of this experience. I had often speculated with images of the future, dreamed of roles that I might be assigned, perhaps as poet or prophet or painter, or something similar. All that was futile. I did not exist to write poems, to preach or to paint, neither I nor anyone else. All of that was incidental. Each man had only one genuine vocation - to find the way to himself. He might end up as poet or madman, as prophet or criminal - that was not his affair, ultimately it was of no concern. His task was to discover his own destiny - not an arbitrary one - and live it out wholly and resolutely within himself. Everything else was only a would-be existence, an attempt at evasion, a flight back to the ideals of the masses, conformity and fear of one's own inwardness...."

"A whole society composed of men afraid of the unknown within them! They all sense that the rules they live by are no longer valid, that they live according to archaic laws - neither their religion nor their morality is in any way suited to the needs of the present. For a hundred years or more Europe has done nothing but study and build factories! they know exactly how many ounces of powder it takes to kill a man but they don't know how to pray to God, they don't even know how to be happy for a single contented hour....."

Cory, I like your poems. It seems like you're doing a lot of soul searching.

I love the glimpses of clarity I get, once in a while. The kind of clarity you describe in your poems. It doesn't matter if it's "good or bad", life is all about polarization.... one can't exist without the other. But It's neat when you can just step back and observe what's happening inside of you.

Mountains are important to youI For me, too. I moved here because of them..... and it's funny how it always "pulls" me up, up, up. When I'm going for a walk, I often end up on top of a hill or a "mountain".

Sometimes I don't stop there, I spread my wings and soar into the sky....

Enjoy the ride! ..... (I know you are),

Edith
